Heart in the Right Place, Boots in the Wrong Sand.
The Peace Corps was built on a noble idea: send Americans to help folks around the world in practical ways — farming, teaching, healthcare. And a lot of good-hearted folks signed up, packed bags, and went where most won’t. But over time, the mission got murky. Too much bureaucracy. Too many ivory tower planners treating villages like experiments. It started feeling more like virtue tourism than real impact.
Still, at its best, it shows what’s possible when everyday Americans roll up their sleeves to serve without a profit motive.

The spirit of it fits: serve, sweat, and show up. But if it ever forgets who it’s serving — the people, not the program — it’s off the road.
