Kris Kristofferson

The Rhodes Scholar Cowboy.

Kris wrote like a poet, lived like a drifter, and sang like a man who’d been to war and back — because he had. Helicopter pilot, Golden Gloves boxer, Oxford scholar, outlaw country king — Kristofferson packed more into one life than most do in five.

He could talk Nietzsche and Nietzsche’s hangover. But he never lost the sound of the South, the ache of the working man, or the edge of someone who knew the weight of silence. He gave us “Sunday Morning Coming Down” and meant every damn word.

Verdict: SphstRDnck. Sharp mind, harder heart, lived it all and sang it plain.
