Noble Mission, Corporate Shadows
Started as gritty duck hunters turned conservationists, Ducks Unlimited put more wetlands under protection than the federal government even tried. That’s real. That’s legacy.
But here’s the uncomfortable truth: over time, DU got a little too cozy with big ag, corporate donors, and inside-the-Beltway bureaucrats. They’ve saved a lot — no doubt — but sometimes looked the other way when big money wanted to carve up wild land for profit. Conservation should never come with a corporate clause.
Verdict: SphstRDnck Roots, but Watch the Soil.
The mission’s good, but we need accountability to stay clean. Conservation belongs to the people — not the tax write-offs of giant landowners.
